Install like a pro

We get a few texts a week asking for our recommendations for all things art-related, but especially for installation tools and tips. We love to help and we especially love to share our favorite tools of the trade.

Our favorite tools were hard earned through trial, error, & many, many installs. We firmly stand behind these tools as the best in the business and we truly wouldn’t want to install artwork without them in our tool bag.

We hope they make installing artwork in your own home easier and more enjoyable. Of course if you’d prefer Celestial Art Curation install your artwork we can do that too!

My can’t-live-without tools of the trade:

  1. Sticky Putty for grip and stability for art that is intended to lean on a fireplace mantel or shelf. A tiny ball of putty under each corner discourages accidental sliding for added piece of mind.

  2. Laser distance measuring tool for measuring walls when hanging wall art. When installing artwork alone, you don’t have the benefit of someone to hold the other end of a measuring tape. This tool gives an accurate measurement with one set of hands and bonus-it doesn’t leave marks on the walls!

  3. Hangman Push & Hang Pro Picture Hanging Tool for hanging art with 2 hooks on the back to ensure the holes are the correct distance apart and level to one another.

  4. Bumpers for the corners of wall art where they touch the wall. This helps keep artwork in position, prevents marks on the walls, and even helps prevent uneven leaning keeping the artwork upright on the wall.

  5. Archival mounting strips for adhering artwork to the backside of a mat before framing. These strips adhere to the mat and hold the artwork in place without causing any damage to the original artwork.

  6. Clear bubble Level for straightening and positioning artwork on walls or shelves. Installing artwork is never complete without a double check to make sure it’s perfectly level. The small ruler on the side can also be used to ensure equal distancing between multiple works of art.
